A classic yacht from 1975, but modernized and ready for long and comfortable trips, that is the Valkvlet 1160 OK/AK called Marste. She has been brought up to date with great care and attention, allowing the ship to retain its characteristic appearance while offering contemporary comfort. In May 2022, the ship was completely repainted and since then several technical and interior improvements have been made, making Marste both reliable and pleasant to use.
The electrical system has been renewed with a new battery pack and separate chargers, and in 2025 a 3000 watt inverter was installed. A large 60-liter boiler has been installed, and a washer/dryer combination has been added. The mattresses in the forward cabin and aft cabin have been replaced, and the neat bathroom is equipped with a shower, sink, and electric toilet. The steel railing and scepters have been replaced with stainless steel, including the swimming ladder, and a new cockpit tent was installed last year. The underwater hull was given new antifouling and anodes, and the rudder blade has been modified, making the boat very responsive to the rudder and, in combination with the bow thruster, excellent maneuverability.
The layout follows the familiar Valkvlet design: in the bow there is a sleeping cabin with one large bed created by combining the V-beds, next to it there is a practical galley and the aforementioned bathroom. The saloon contains the steering gear and a passenger seat, under which the washing machine/dryer is located; the sofa can be converted into an extra bed and opposite the sofa are cupboards for storage space. The saloon has two hinged front windows, two sliding windows, and a large sliding roof, and four hinged doors lead to the open cockpit with “cellar” and benches. At the rear is the aft cabin with a generous bed. Marste has a comfortable layout for longer trips with family or guests.
In short, Marste is a true classic with an almost new look: a characteristic Valkvlet layout combined with modern amenities and recent maintenance, ideal for those who want style and comfort during beautiful sailing trips.
