This Valkvlet is not only a picture to behold but she is in really very good condition. This is not only because the Prelude was completely painted in November 2023 but the owners also pamper her.
With a length of 11.90 m., a draft of 1.05 m., a vertical clearance of 2.50 m. and a powerful 6-cylinder Ford diesel engine, the sailing area is versatile; in addition to all inland waterways, you can safely make coastal trips with it, as well as the French canals or to inland waterways. The Prelude sails relatively fast and is very steady on course.
Engine noise is very limited thanks to a number of features. Among other things, the engine is encapsulated in a soundproof box, which consists of all loose partitions (lined with Baryfol mats) so that the accessibility of the engine has remained optimal. The teak floor, with ash slats consists of plywood with a rubber layer in between.
The Prelude has a classic mahogany interior. In the forepeak, an enclosed owner's cabin with two spacious berths in V-shape of 220 x 90 cm! There is closet space, an escape/ventilation hatch and portholes. Beyond that, to starboard is the galley with a 3-burner gas stove, gas oven, refrigerator and extractor and portholes. Across from this, to port, is the spacious toilet/shower room with sink, electric exhaust and porthole. The underwater line toilet is connected to a waste water tank, which can be emptied either overboard or via an extractor. In the wheelhouse/salon there is a pull-out couch on the starboard side, where 2 people can sleep. On the port side are the steering position and a wardrobe. Plenty of ventilation here as well. In the front there are 2 swing windows, in the sides 2 sliding windows, while in the roof there is a large sliding hatch, which is easy to open. The rear of the wheelhouse consists of four folding doors, so that the saloon and open cockpit can be made into one large space. Because there is only a bench against the transom in the open cockpit, it is very spacious, so there is more than enough room to place (sun) chairs here. The open cockpit, which is finished in teak, is self-draining and below is a large storage space. There is also an option to steer the Prelude from the open cockpit.
